The most solid basis for self-esteem is…a life in which one contributes to the greatest possible extent to making the world a better place. Doing this is not giving up what one would rather be doing…It is the expression of one’s core identity. Steven Pinker The Most Good You Can Do
How to Help
It’s difficult to ask everyone for help all the time. SA Heroes are a select group of people who choose to get our bat call a few times a month for help with individual tasks that can free the organizers up to make SA more awesome.
What sorts of things will we ask for?
- Take a shift helping out at a children’s event.
- Print the programs for the next assembly.
- Stay late and help clean up or come early and help set up.
- Lead a song, do a reading, or share your personal story during the assembly.
- Host a small group or event in your home.
- Stop by and grab name tags for a discussion group.
- Help make decorations for a special event.
- Call a venue find out more info for us.
We’ll also keep you updated about what happens at the monthly organizer meetings (everyone is welcome to attend). So fill out the form below and choose SA Heroes to start getting these calls to action.
The Community Action Team (CAT) is a group of assemblers who respond when another member is in need. Whether a person has something severe happen or is just having a difficult time, the CAT shows their support with care and presence. When a CATcall, as they’re termed, an email goes out to the group. They range from helping someone move to cheering them up with small gifts all the way to helping them out of a tough situation or making sure they get to a doctor.
If you’d like to be able to offer a hand when someone is struggling, fill out the form below and choose the Community Action Team!
Most months we get together to do a Help Often event where we go volunteer together with an existing organization or figure out a project for ourselves. Follow us on Meetup to keep track of these events.
We’re actively working on creating a help often program where we directly help others under own initiative. If you’d like to get involved in that, contact Lori, email@example.com.
